Rapper A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault on Monday and firing a handgun at a former friend in November.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office said A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Meyers, has been charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic shotgun.

Officials say that after a heated argument in Hollywood on November 6, Meyers fired twice at a former friend.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's statement does not mention that anyone was killed.

But according to the police report, the former friend told the police that a bullet had hit his left hand.

Meyers' attorney Alan Jackson did not immediately comment on the allegations on Monday.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, it has been said by the DA's office.

District Attorney George Gascon said the shooting could have ended in tragedy.
